Annual Pledge
“Pigmalion” — this fellow to the right — is the mascot and reminder of an initiative we’re emphasizing at Ascension. It’s generosity. His three compartments represent three key decisions each of us makes with the money that God entrusts to us. Do we spend it? Do we save it? Do we share it? Sharing it is the most challenging of all. Unfortunately, it’s what we often do with our leftovers. Yet, in God’s economy, sharing is the most important of all three. As God is generous with us, he asks us to be generous to others. We’re supposed to let go of a portion of our blessings. In the process, we become stewards instead of spenders. Once you have your own “Pigmalion” (generously donated by our partners at Thrivent Financial), display him somewhere in your home where he can provide a daily reminder that, while spending and saving are very important, sharing it with other individuals and organizations is equally important. Spend it? Save it? Share it? God gives us the choice.
