Community Outreach To Seniors

Ascension provides worship services at four nearby seniors’ living places — with members of the Senior Adult Ministries team helping to lead. Members are welcome to join in! Contact Norm Guetschoff for information. This is a growing and important ministry for our Senior Adult Ministry Team.

At Senior Concerns, at 401 Hodencamp in Thousand Oaks, held the first and third Wednesdays of each month, from 10-11 AM. Started in December 2011, this Christian Life Hour is for people with dementia. “We sing favorite hymns, share brief devotions, and always do Psalm 23 and The Lord’s Prayer,” says Pastor Steve. Norm and Karen Guetschoff, Jan Burgert, Jeff Specks and Pastor Steve lead this twice-a-month ministry. Visit with any of them if you’d like to learn more about it or if you’d like to come and help lead this worship service for community seniors!

On the second Monday of each month we also have a Christian Life Hour at the Vallecito Mobile Park Clubhouse, 1251 Old Conejo Road, as an outreach into our community. Our hour together (2-3 PM) includes hymn-singing, devotions, Holy Communion, as well as some discussion questions to hear each other’s life and faith stories.  If you have any questions, contact Eric Herem at Vallecito or Pastor Steve.

We also hold Christian Life Hour, with Holy Communion, on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at Thousand Oaks Royale, 45 Erbes Road, at 10:30 AM.

At University Village Oak View, 3557 Campus Dr, Thousand Oaks, the first and third Sundays of the month at 2 PM. Worshipers attending come from assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing departments.
