‘BLUE’ Ocean Film Comes to Ascension
Ascension Lutheran Church and School is pleased to invite you to a free screening of the film “BLUE,” April 17, 2019, at 7 PM in the sanctuary.
“BLUE” is an important feature documentary that takes us on a provocative journey into the ocean realm, witnessing a critical moment in time when the marine world is on a precipice.
Featuring passionate advocates for ocean preservation, “BLUE” takes us into their world where the story of our changing oceans is unfolding. We meet those who are defending habitats, campaigning for smarter fishing, combating marine pollution and fighting for the protection of keystone species. This film comes at a time when we are making critical decisions that will decide the legacy we leave for generations to come. “BLUE” shows us there is a way forward and the time to act is now.
As a church and school committed to finding ways that we can come together to protect God’s beautiful creation, this film provides a great way for us to engage with our community in conversations about how we can be part of the solution.
“Our program at Ascension Lutheran School teaches our students to be good stewards of the Earth,” says Middle School Science Teacher, Katie Gerrans. “In science class, we have conversations about caring for our planet that have led the students to take actionable changes in their habits such as an extensive recycling program on campus. We are excited to continue learning and discovering how we can protect the oceans for future generations and doing so in a forum that invites our neighbors in the community to consider these issues as well.”
