When members and friends of Ascension are journeying through difficult times, we have a beautiful, comforting gift for them, thanks to our dedicated band of knitters and crocheters.

Over the years, more than 500 prayer shawls have been given to members and friends of Ascension who are in need of some comfort, perhaps because of the death of a family member, loss of a job, illness or divorce. Each unique creation has been lovingly and prayerfully crafted by a member of Ascension. The finished shawls are presented with a blessing to the person as a reminder that they are loved and prayed for by their church family.

Members also create baby prayer shawls for infants who are baptized here and they knit or crochet prayer scarves. In addition, our prayer shawls and scarves have made their way to residents of assisted living homes and been sent to family members and friends far and wide.
