About Our Worship Services

9 AM Sundays, Traditional;
11 AM Sundays, Praise Service (contemporary worship)
9 AM Wednesdays Chapel (through the school year)
When we gather to worship as a church, we explore the Word of God, partake of His sacraments and sing praises to the Lord together as family and friends. Ascension Lutheran offers a variety of worship experiences because we recognize that people express their thoughts and feelings toward God in different ways. And, while our core beliefs as a church don’t change, each service has its own unique style of delivery and atmosphere. This page will assist you in selecting a service where you feel most comfortable and free to become fully engaged in the act of worship.
Our Saturday night worship service is an informal, come-as-you-are, worship experience with a Country/Gospel flavor in music featuring the musical group, “Country Spirit” (right).
Join us on Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM for our Traditional Worship service, a traditional Lutheran liturgical service with the adult choir or other special music. These services features hymns, old and new, and are supported by an organ, the Chancel Choir, youth choirs, and guest musicians. We celebrate Holy Communion at each service. A children’s sermon is a regular part of this service.
This praise worship celebration features an informal style and contemporary music performed by the musical group, “Praise Alive” (right). We celebrate the Lord’s Supper at every 11:00 AM Sunday morning service. A children’s sermon is a regular part of this service.
Nursery & Comfort Room
Children are a vital part of Ascension’s ministry. We have a nursery staffed with caring individuals for children three years of age and younger. Our friendly ushers can assist you in finding the proper room. We also have a Comfort Room (renamed by the Girl Scout Gold Award recipient who transformed it from the “cry room”) with video. Children’s Busy Bags are available from the west narthex. Read more about child care.
Hearing Issues?
Hearing assistance devices are available on the small table in the west narthex. Simply return them when you have finished and remember to turn them off.
AED Safe Facility
In Ascension’s west narthex you will find an AED on the wall by the phone.
Prayers of the Church
Prayer requests to be included in our worship services may be written on the blue prayer cards in the pews and then placed in the offering plate during the offering time.
Communion
All people who are baptized and believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are welcome to receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Children who have not received First Communion instruction are invited to come forward and receive a blessing. We offer both juice and wine during Holy Communion. As our Communion assistants serve you, they will present the tray with the grape juice and wine for you to take whichever one you prefer. The wine is the dark liquid, and the grape juice is the lighter colored of the two, usually found in the center of the tray. Gluten free wafers are also available for the asking.
